09 Okt Put a Lomo around your neck and you won’t be needing a dog no more…
Don’t get me wrong, I love dogs – in fact, that’s my dog Bob up there (he’s playing, not shying away;). But seriously, it doesn’t matter whether you’re holding a lomo camera or a leash in your hand – people are going to approach you all the same…
I went on a Lomo trip the other day to walk my Diana F+ and try out the new 35mm back (the classic Diana takes roll films, but I recently bought an adapter – lomographs are hopefully following soon). So I put Diana around me neck and started walking through the cute city centre. And while I was looking for lomo-worthy motifs, I got exactly 4 different reactions from the people around me:
1 – no reaction at all (all Johnny Heads-in-the-Air)
2 – curious looks and stares towards my camera (or at least that’s what I hope they were staring at…)
3 – head-shaking and snide remarks, loud enough for me to hear (I’m gonna report this as Lomo-mobbing)
4 – as well as looks of open wonder, in most cases followed by a short conversation
So, if you’re looking for a slightly different approach to meeting new people, or if you have a dog hair allergy, I highly recommend walking through a crowded place with a funny looking camera around your neck – I promise, you don’t actually have to shoot anything 😉

Posted at 12:01h, 09 OktoberIndeed, I would choose Bob over Diana anyday!
But it’s good to have an alternative 😉
Cheers!

Posted at 12:09h, 09 OktoberCute doggie works better, trust me. Especially if you are an ugly man. Few weeks ago I saw someone looking like a mix of gangster/homeless person who walked a cute little puppy in the park. He was soon swarmed by 17 year old girls wishing to pet his puppy.

Posted at 19:11h, 09 OktoberWhat a lucky man, lol. Yeah, I guess the balance would be a bit off, but it’s still a fun way to become acquainted with total strangers.
Greetings to Taiwan! Met any strange people with cute dogs, lately? 😉

Posted at 17:12h, 11 OktoberI find the dogs-walking thing to work much better. Whenever I’ve had my camera around my neck, most people seem to walk away, hands over face, and such like! I wonder why….LOL! Lovely post and pic.

Posted at 14:09h, 16 Oktoberlol, I can’t imagine!
Maybe the people I met were too busy figuring out what that thing around my neck was, so they forgot that they actually didn’t want to be photographed…oooor, they really did believe it to be a toy camera without any real functions 🙂
Thank you and greetings!
